FastComet Hosting Test Parameters

To test FastComet hosting, I purchased the FastCloud Shared Hosting plan.

I have been using this with the following configuration:

FastComet Server Response Time

Talking about server response time, I found it to be 3 ms in Mumbai and 67 ms in Singapore , which is really impressive! This is much better compared to web hosts like StableHost or Bluehost.

Currently, they use Apache servers . However, their sales team confirmed that they will soon offer Litespeed servers on some plans, which is great news. This will increase their performance exponentially, and I am looking forward to it!

FastComet Speed Test

FastComet uses exclusive SSD storage for your files and databases in all plans . The company promises lightning-fast speeds, and as its webpage states, your website can load up to 300% faster!

When I chose the Bangalore location, I got a blazing-fast page load speed of 879.04 milliseconds! These speeds are comparable to those of well-known hosting providers like ChemiCloud and Cloudways!

However, when I switched to the New York (USA) location, the speed test results showed a loading speed as slow as 3.09 seconds.

I was also impressed by the server’s speed test results because I didn’t use any caching plugins here.

This is with the default caching system running in the background. If I installed and configured a caching plugin myself, it would be much faster.

Over the past 365 days, my website has had an overall uptime of 99.98% which is very good. And over the past 30 days, I have observed an uptime of 100%. So, their uptime has improved significantly over the past 6 months;

FastComet Load Test

FastComet claims that all plans offer unmetered traffic. This means that even on their shared hosting plans, bandwidth consumption should be unlimited.

However, when I contacted their support representative, they told me that the bandwidth limit for the FastCloud Extra plan is 92 GB, which is pretty good by any means.

In the load test, I sent 45 virtual users from the data center in Mumbai to analyze how effectively my website handles the traffic.

They made a total of 8290 requests and not a single one failed, which is pretty impressive! The peak number of requests was 49.39/second, and the average response time was only 3.9 milliseconds!

So, judging by the number of requests, FastComet overall handled the load pretty well!

FastComet Cache

They have three shared hosting plans, with the most caching plugins available in the FastCloud Extra plan, including LiteSpeed Cache, OPCache, MemCache, Cloudflare CDN Cache, and more.

As of June 2022, they have discontinued the Cachewall app in favor of Litespeed servers. Therefore, you can use the Litespeed cache plugin in the meantime.

However, these caching systems are only available on the FastCloud Extra plan. If you are on a lower-tier plan, the Cloudflare CDN cache is used by default.

Another thing to note is that Fastcomet turns off Memcache by

default because it causes some applications to crash. So, to enable it, you need to contact their support team.

FastComet offers cPanel in its hosting plans, which is one of the most powerful and intuitive control panels.

It’s easy to use, mobile-friendly, and loaded with useful tools and software to provide a smooth experience for users. Overall, I feel that its interface is good, but it could be improved in terms of design.

FastComet Security

When it comes to security, FastComet implements various security services to protect users from online threats. The most important security services are as follows.

Master Password – Unlike other hosting providers, FastComet allows you to set a master password for your account.

Only after verifying your master password can cPanel, website settings, backup, recovery, staging and other services work properly . However, this extra security can sometimes slow down your workflow!

ModSecurity: This is a web application firewall (WAF) that proactively blocks unauthorized login attempts. It is optimized for CMS platforms like WordPress, Magento, etc.

2FA: For two-factor authentication, you can use an authentication app like Google Authenticator or Authy to generate an OTP code for login.

SSL Certificate: You will get a free Let'sEncrypt domain validated SSL certificate applied to all domains by default.

BitNinja Security: This is a layer 7 network firewall that blocks DDoS attacks, script injections, etc. It is enabled on all FastComet plans.

Imunify360: This is a malware scanning and firewall service that protects your server from brute force attacks, DDoS attacks, and more.

Virus Scanner: It can scan your entire home directory or mail, public FTP space and public web space separately for viruses.

IP Blocker: It blocks certain IP addresses from accessing your website.

Hotlink protection: It restricts other users from directly linking to files on your website, preventing them from stealing your bandwidth.

Isolated Hosting Environment – FastComet provides an isolated environment for each shared hosting account. So, even if a website sharing your server gets infected, your website will not be compromised!

SSH Access – You can make changes directly to your server using the Terminal application under cPanel.

FastComet Backup and Restore

FastComet offers daily automatic backups for all its hosting plans for free. These backups are offsite, meaning they are stored on a different server than your website. So, in case something happens to your website, your backups will still be protected!

Your files and databases are backed up separately. So you can create separate backups for your databases, emails, cronjobs, files, DNS zones, etc.

FastComet creates incremental backups, which means it only copies the changes made since the last backup!

FastCloud and FastCloud Plus shared hosting plans store automatic backups for 7 days. FastCloud Extra plans store backups for 30 days .

The recovery process can be easily achieved through the one-click recovery manager.

FastComet Website Hosting

Staging refers to creating a copy of your website for testing any functional updates or modifications. FastComet allows easy and smooth website staging using its Softaculous auto-installer.

You just need to go into the Softaculous installer and under WordPress select the website you want to clone.

Now, click on the “Stage” option. It will display the URL of the cloned site and the WordPress admin credentials to edit the site. You can make any edits to the site and preview it through the URL. All edits will be kept locally.

Once you are happy with your changes, you can return to the WordPress Manager and click the “Push Changes to Live” button.

That's it! Your changes have been overwritten on your original website. I found the FastComet installment process to be very simple and user-friendly!
