Adobe will launch a new generative AI video model Adobe Firefly Video Model, which is specifically designed for video generation and editing. It will be integrated into Adobe's video tools (such as Premiere Pro) to help video editors complete their work faster and more efficiently. This new model can generate video clips through text prompts, such as filling in missing content in the timeline, removing unnecessary objects, smoothing jump cut transitions, etc. It also supports creating animations, controlling camera angles and movements, etc.
The highlights of Firefly Video Model are:
- Supports complex shot generation and manipulation, such as using hints to generate detailed scenes or fill in missing shots.
- Emphasize the generation of emotions and film styles. You can add special effects such as fire, smoke, dust particles, etc. to the scene, or adjust the atmosphere of the shot through color, light and shadow.
- Generate animations and motion effects such as 2D and 3D animations and share ideas with team members.
Key Features of Adobe Firefly Video Model
Text-to-Video
With simple text prompts, users can generate high-quality video clips to easily fill gaps in the timeline. For example, by describing a scene (such as "reindeer in the snow" or "volcano erupting"), they can generate shots that meet their creative needs.
Lens filling and extension
Firefly Video Model supports generating missing shots and smoothing transitions by generating segments. For example, it can extend the shot duration and fill in the material without the hassle of reshooting.
Dynamic Control and Camera Operation
Users can adjust the camera angle, movement and zoom to give the generated video more visual effects. For example, users can generate a drone shot flying over the desert and control the camera movement.
Diversified scene generation
It supports the generation of natural scenery, animations, and special effects, and is suitable for inserting B-roll, creating transition clips, or generating supplementary shots. It is particularly good at generating atmospheric elements such as fire, smoke, and dust particles, and can be seamlessly integrated with other materials.
2D and 3D animation generation
It supports the generation and editing of 2D and 3D animations, such as hand-drawn line style animations or clay animations, etc. It allows creative teams to quickly realize animation concepts and share them with team members.
Image-to-Video conversion
Firefly Video Model also supports converting static images into dynamic video clips, such as generating new dynamic scenes from images, or generating new video shots by zooming in or out from images.
Real-time Effects and Overlays
The model also supports generating transparent background special effects(such as fire, smoke, etc.) and superimposing them on existing video footage to add more visual effects to the video.
Cases using Firefly
With Firefly's Text-to-Video feature, users can use text cues, various camera controls and reference images to generate supplemental footage (B-roll) that fits seamlessly into the timeline.
The Firefly video model excels at generating videos of the natural world, generating scenes with camera motion such as landscapes, plants, or animals when key setting shots are missing.

With the Firefly video model, users can take advantage of rich camera controls such as angle, motion, and zoom to generate videos with the perfect perspective.
The Firefly video model supports a wide range of use cases, including the generation of environmental elements such as fire, smoke, dust particles, and water, which can be generated against a black or green background and then overlaid onto existing content via blending modes or keying in Adobe tools such as Premiere Pro or After Effects.

Conceive 2D and 3D animations, including Claymation, that can be shared with creative collaborators to convey intent.
Brainstorm ideas for custom text effects to share with clients for feedback.

Coming later this year in Premiere Pro (beta), Generative Extend lets you extend clips to cover gaps in footage, smooth transitions, or stretch shots for perfectly timed edits. Watch how an editor uses Generative Extend, powered by the Adobe Firefly video model, in Premiere Pro to stretch the hold of a shot to match a fade-in for audio.
Here you can see the final output where the resulting frames create a perfect edit.
